Depicting the beauty of falling leaves
To allow children to fully appreciate the beauty of nature and cultivate a strong sense of environmental protection, the "Sailing" social practice team has been committed to bringing nature education into primary school classrooms. On July 12, 2016, they held their first nature education class at Shangrong Primary School in Qinba Town, Wuchuan City. The theme of this class was "Leaf Puzzle," using fallen leaves from nature to trim and piece together colorful pictures. Early in the morning, the nature education teachers got up to prepare materials, collecting leaves of various shapes and colors from under different trees before class. No two leaves are the same; nature is truly amazing. Even if two leaves are indistinguishable in color and size, one might have a small bite from an insect, and more importantly, their veins might be completely different. Some say children are both angels and devils; when they are mischievous, they are devils; when they are focused on creating and full of wonder, they are angels. Children's imaginations are truly extraordinary; their minds are always filled with wondrous things. Leaves are just leaves, but in the hands of children, they transform into turtles, goldfish, houses, and trees. Their boundless imaginations make them artists, creating a series of novel pictures. Some children ingeniously colored their pictures, while others added other elements like stems. Nature has no waste; as long as resources haven't yet been transformed from waste into treasure, and we make full use of them, our living environment will become more beautiful. Nature is the best teacher. It is hoped that the children of Shangrong Primary School will experience the charm of nature through this nature education course, enhance their awareness of protecting the Earth, respect nature, be grateful for its gifts, and live in harmony with nature.
