Under the scorching sun and in the passionate summer, "Sailing" joins hands to go to the countryside.
July, the summer sun blazed down, the air thick with sweat, making it feel sticky and the sweltering heat reluctant to leave the cool air-conditioned rooms. Despite this seemingly lazy atmosphere, nothing could deter the team members from their rural outreach trip. A smile, a bright blue uniform, a mix of nervousness and anticipation, and a group photo—and so, on the morning of July 10th, 2017, the "Sailing" social practice team embarked on their journey to the countryside.
Enjoying the scenery along the way and listening to light music, after about two hours of driving, the team arrived at their destination—Shangrong Primary School in Qinba Town, Wuchuan City. As soon as the car door opened, the team members dragged their heavy suitcases and carried some daily necessities. Some children stared at the team members with curious eyes for a while. The bolder children approached and asked if the team members were the "little teachers" for the rural outreach program, while the shy children stood aside, listening intently to their conversation. After a few words, the children learned that the team members were part of a rural service program and offered their help, handing over some of their luggage.
Although July was hot, it couldn't dampen the children's enthusiasm. There was a short distance from the school gate to the teaching building, and the children helped the team members carry some of their smaller, lighter luggage, kindly asking for their names and the subjects they would be teaching. In just a few minutes, the children and team members chatted amiably and exchanged contact information.
The team members put away their luggage, cleaned up, and assigned tasks. Tomorrow there will be an opening ceremony, and the "Sailing" social practice team will officially begin their joyful rural service program.
