The time spent tiptoeing and looking around
Time always slips away quietly, and before we know it, a winter vacation has passed. The new semester has begun, bringing us new things, new courses, and new times…
From the very beginning, the coursework was packed. In class, we always stared intently at the blackboard, listening carefully to the teacher's explanations. After class, we raced against time to finish our homework for each subject. After evening self-study, we dragged ourselves home, exhausted.
We threw ourselves into the tide of learning every day, overwhelmed by homework, often saying discouraging things. But I know clearly that this is just the beginning. Now is merely a busy time; what awaits us in the future will be more challenging and will further temper our will. Our road ahead is long, and we will encounter many more difficulties.
The first thing we must do now is to cultivate a positive and proactive learning attitude. In 2005, Steve Jobs said in his Stanford University speech, "Stay Foolish, Stay Hungry." This means: Be eager to learn and humble. This saying has become my guiding principle and attitude towards learning. Only through continuous learning and humbly seeking guidance can we refine our knowledge and make progress.
Collecting books is not difficult; reading them is not difficult; truly understanding them is difficult; applying what we've learned is not difficult. We should learn to apply what we've learned, not just read for exams. In my spare time, I read all sorts of extracurricular books—novels, classics, poetry collections. Even though I can't remember some of the poems, I still gain something. Some say reading extracurricular books is a waste of time, but in my opinion, a certain amount of reading is necessary. Perhaps my Chinese language skills aren't the best or the most diligent, but I love reading the most. I firmly believe in the saying, "The sea is wide enough for fish to leap, the sky is high enough for birds to fly." From now on, I will set my goals and strive tirelessly for them. I aspire to study at Fudan and Tongji Universities in Shanghai, and I believe that as long as I keep striving, my dream will eventually come true.
The time spent looking around on tiptoe is the past, the present, and the future. No one can stay young forever, but there will always be someone who is young. Make the most of every minute and second so that you won't have regrets in the future. The time spent looking ahead and gazing into the distance will be more beautiful and more inspiring.
